In a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping entire industries, Sobona – the employer organization for municipal companies in Sweden – recognized the importance of not just keeping up with the development, but actively leading and implementing the new technology.

In this post, Samira Lundqvist, Stellar Capacity alumna and Head of Strategic Development at Sobona, shares her thoughts and experiences from our tailored Generative AI Bootcamp. She describes how the training has helped Sobona's employees use AI to strengthen the organization, improve their services, and contribute to a more sustainable society. Samira also highlights the importance of being early in the development, testing new solutions, and always staying curious..
In times of rapid technological development, we face a choice: to either lead the change or be left behind. As Head of Strategic Development at Sobona, the employer organization for municipal companies, I am proud to represent an organization that not only welcomes the future but actively shapes it. Our recently established partnership with Stellar Capacity in tailoring and delivering an AI training program is a shining example of this.
A Tailored Training Solution
When we at Sobona decided to invest in AI training, the choice of partner was crucial. Stellar Capacity's reputation as a leader in technology and education spoke for itself, and we knew they would deliver a program that not only met our high standards but exceeded them. Their expert team worked closely with us to understand our unique position as the employer organization for municipal companies, and tailored a training solution that was a perfect fit for our needs.
Using AI to Improve what we do
Through Stellar Capacity's engaging and in-depth training, our employees have gained valuable insights into the powerful potential of AI technology. We have raised our collective knowledge level. This strategic step ensures that we keep pace with the development and can take on implementing AI-based solutions to improve efficiency and service to our members – and through them, to citizens.

"What I take with me is that generative AI tools have enormous knowledge and memory, can inspire and automate repetitive cognitive tasks. We humans can make people feel and make them feel seen, we can motivate teams, correct mistakes, handle unexpected crises. So let's use these tools! Because if AI can do what we do better and faster, we can spend that time becoming better human beings, leaders, and the best version of ourselves."
AI as a Driver of Sustainable Society
The AI training is an investment because we believe that understanding and using AI will not only advance our services but can also contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future for the communities we serve. Our journey with Stellar Capacity is just the beginning. We at Sobona continue to explore new technology. We are ready for tomorrow's challenges and look forward to being part of the new renaissance. Together with Stellar Capacity, we got to test various tools, including ChatGPT which most people know, Bing AI Chat, Claude, ChatPDF, DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Audio, HeyGen, Flixier, Gamma.app, and Poe. It was incredibly playful, fun, and above all useful. It became clear that with the right tools, we can create more easily, faster, and simpler.
We Need to Adapt
We just need to develop our expertise in these tools and adapt to new ways of working. A bit like when the computer or typewriter arrived and people had to learn to write in a different way than with pen and paper. Or when Google made it possible for us to search for information more efficiently instead of looking things up in encyclopedias and going to libraries or reference shelves. Fifteen years ago, we thought it was science fiction to imagine that we could stand at a bus stop and shop for groceries or clothes at the same time.
Being Open Makes It All More Fun
Today we do it on our phones while waiting for the bus, and it feels like it has always been that way. We have learned new behaviors, tools, and ways of working before, and we will continue to be able to do so. We just need to be open and curious. Sooner or later, we all have to learn – and it's more fun sooner than later.
